Engineer, Electrical Engineering

Primary Purpose

Develops studies, plans, criteria, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, performance assessments, integrated systems analysis, cost estimates, budgets, and associated work related to the planning, design, licensing, construction, operation, and maintenance of Exelon’s electric generation, transmission, distribution, gas and telecommunications facilities and systems under the guidance of an experienced engineer. Provides consultation and recommendations to the company and other business units and/or customers based on studies of company or customer-owned systems, processes, equipment, vehicles or facilities under the guidance of an experienced engineer.

Reviews financial data from budget and actual costs of projects under the guidance of an experienced engineer. Position may be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

This is a hybrid position (in‑office with remote flexibility). Employees are required to be in office at least three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). This position must sit out of our Lombard, IL office. This position is not eligible for relocation assistance.

• Performs engineering assignments while exercising independent discretion under the guidance of an experienced engineer, including collecting data, performing complex analysis, interpreting results, drawing conclusions, and clearly presenting a recommendation to management.
• Performs engineering tasks associated with large projects or several small projects, such as analyzing and interpreting the results of complex power flows, performing engineering tests, and analyzing non‑specific and ambiguous results.
• May direct engineering tasks associated with a large project or several small projects, e.g., verifying and validating studies, blueprints, or designs against accepted engineering principles and practices; designing high‑voltage transmission and distribution circuits that meet all engineering standards and criteria.
• Participates on teams and may lead teams.

• Provides technical assistance in support of senior engineers, managers and others.
• Applies technical knowledge to help promote a safe work environment and to enhance customer satisfaction.

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
• 2–4 years of professional engineering experience.
• Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical and mechanical systems.
• Knowledge and ability to apply problem‑solving approaches and engineering theory.
• Knowledge of engineering designs, principles and practices.
• General knowledge and experience with regulations, guides, standards, codes, methods and practices necessary to perform assignments for a specific discipline, various installations, or services.

• Engineer in Training license.
• Strong written and oral communication/presentation skills, report generation and technical writing skills.

• Annual salary will vary based on a candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience and other factors: $83,200.00 – $ per year.
