Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Develop plans, specification and cost estimates for water resource projects.
• Review shop plans and contract submittals.
• Assist with coordination of the bidding process.
• Analyze bids and recommend awarding of contracts.
• Develop relationships with contacts within and outside of the Department of Natural Resources to facilitate project development.

• Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college with a degree in engineering.
• Requires three years or more experience in the field of engineering.
• Requires Professional Engineering License in the State of Illinois.
• Working knowledge of project design review and preparation preferred.
• Prefers two (2) years of experience working with bidding process for contracts.
• Prefers one (1) year of experience in project coordinator with State and Federal agencies.
• Prefers one (1) year of working experience of public works and construction projects.

Demonstrates expertise in project design review, cost estimation, and contract management for water resource projects, with a strong focus on collaboration with State and Federal agencies. Holds a Professional Engineering License in Illinois and possesses extensive experience in public works and construction projects.
