Summary:
Extra Help Event Attendants provide event related services in a variety of different areas of operations including: concession stand, merchandise sales, artist runner and access control.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Parking Attendant (Non-Driving):
Assist in setting up traffic cones and signs for event parking and VIP parking. Provide general patron assistance and directions into the building and to events. Monitor parking lot for available parking spaces. Assist in tearing down traffic cones and signs at the end of the shift. Provide patron assistance exiting the building, to cars, and exiting the University. Concession Stand Attendant (Non-Alcohol):
Serve as the primary point of contact for customer service and sales pare the concession stand for sales, ensuring all areas are clean and stocked. Operate point of sale systems, cash drawers, and credit card machines. Take orders for beverages and food items, finalize sales, and restock products. Shut down and reconcile point of sale systems and cash drawers. Clean all machines, countertops, and other work areas.
Ensure the concession stand is ready for the next use. Merchandise Seller:
Act as the PAS representative in fulfilling artist merchandise sales. Work with artist's representative to prepare and sell merchandise. Operate point of sale systems, cash drawers, and credit card machines. Assist with finalizing product counts and shutting down merchandise areas. Clean all work areas. Artist Attendant (Non-Driving):
Assist in fulfilling the needs of the artists and their traveling staff. Prepare and monitor hospitality rooms, stock supplies, and clean hospitality areas. Monitor access control at backstage doors and other specified areas. Artist Runner/Attendant (Driving):
Fulfill all duties of the Artist Attendant role. Run errands and fulfill hospitality contracts. Drive members of the artist's team locally (vehicle provided by the university). Access Control Attendant:
Ensure patrons, artists, and staff follow policies and procedures for accessing event areas. Place signage and access control features, scan tickets, review credentials, and inspect packages. Guide patrons through metal detectors and request UIS Police assistance if necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma, some college preferred.
Age requirement: 18 years old minimum for all positions OR 21 years old for driving positions as indicated above. UIS background check - must pass prior to starting work. AED (Automated External Defibrillator) training (provided). Cash handling and credit card training for applicable positions (provided). Applicants must be able to provide exceptional customer service to diverse groups of people including: the public, students, event promoters, and University department representatives.
Must have a positive friendly attitude, be clean and well-groomed, possess good interpersonal communication skills, and remain calm while managing a life safety evacuation or other emergency.
