Assistant Corporate Controller

We’ve been engaged on an Assistant Corporate Controller search for a notable publicly traded consumer goods company. This opening is due to internal promotion and offers a strong path for continued advancement within a well‑run finance organization. Local Chicago‑area candidates only.

The Assistant Corporate Controller will oversee the monthly close, consolidation, financial reporting, audit readiness, operational accounting, cash management, and an established accounting team. This individual will also play a key role supporting the company’s SEC reporting process and ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely financial information.

• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
• Oversee consolidated financial reporting and internal/external reporting packages
• Support preparation and review of SEC filings (10‑Q, 10‑K, and related disclosures)
• Manage audit readiness and serve as a key liaison with external auditors
• Direct operational accounting activities including GL, accruals, reconciliations, cash management, and oversight of AP and Payroll functions
• Support internal controls, SOX compliance, and ongoing process improvements
• Develop, mentor, and manage an established accounting team
• Partner cross‑functionally with FP&A, Treasury, and operational leaders

• Local area candidates only
• 20+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Big 4 or large regional public accounting audit foundation
• Experience supporting SEC filers and manufacturing clients
• Corporate accounting experience within a reputable manufacturing organization preferred
• CPA strongly preferred
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and SEC reporting requirements

• Base salary range: $230-250k + bonus
