Job Summary

Internal Retirement Specialist:
Provide retirement plan expertise to participants, act as a consultant to provide specific education and advice based on individual participants’ unique needs.

Bilingual and Licensing

Preferred bilingual in Spanish and English. Required FINRA Series 6, 63 and 65 licenses, and Life and Health license. The role does not qualify for employer-sponsored work authorization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive inbound calls from participants and provide education and guidance regarding their retirement plan.
  • Use plan‑specific and industry expertise to provide information tailored to each participant’s individual retirement plan.
  • Initiate calls to targeted participants to discuss contribution levels and encourage appropriate increases in deferrals to support retirement goals.
  • Complete account reviews as requested by participants, analyze individual risk assessment and advise on asset allocation options based on results.
  • Offer additional services, e.g., Pro Account for those who prefer automatic account management.
  • Calculate retirement projections for participants as requested and provide counsel on results.
  • Provide education to participants to understand individual retirement distributions, transfers or consolidation needs.
  • Build strategic relationships with field Retirement Specialists and Program Directors through advising and consulting in support of business unit sales goals.
  • Act as a consultant providing retirement plan expertise, recommendations, and practice management advice to field Retirement Specialists and Program Directors within assigned territories.
  • Apply knowledge of industry trends, competitive intelligence, state legislation, market movements and investment changes/performance to advise and consult with the field.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationship

Reports to Manager and has no direct reports.

Typical Skills and Experiences Education
  • Undergraduate studies in business, finance, communications, marketing or related field preferred.
License/Certification/Designation
  • Must acquire required federal and/or state licenses/registrations within the designated time period.
  • FINRA Series 6, 63 and 65 licenses, and Life and Health license are required.
  • Additional licenses may be required when new products and services are implemented.
  • Failing to acquire required licenses within the designated period renders the associate ineligible to continue in the position.
Experience
  • Minimum of two years in a relationship/sales driven position.
  • Sales call center environment preferred, and financial services background preferred.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
  • In-depth knowledge of insurance and financial products.
  • Knowledge of defined contribution plans preferred.
  • Drive for results, ability for relationship building and positive outlook.
  • Proven consultative selling/advising skills and ability to follow processes.
  • Strong time management/organization skills, receptive to coaching and customer focused.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities with excellent communication skills.
