Staff Accountant (Entry Level)
Handles accounting for Accounts Receivable, including input of area revenue reports, monthly bank reconciliations, adjusting journal entries, financial analysis and input/compilation of budget data. Also handles account reconciliations and assisting with the monthly close processes, and various ad hoc analyses.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Responsible for monthly reconciliation of bank accounts, preparation and input of monthly journal entries, financial analysis, monitoring operating and capital budgets, identifying actual to budget differences and performing variance analyses.
- Compile budget data; actual/budgeted/projected, provide analysis, forecast revenue and expenditures and provide reports as needed.
- Work closely with Finance staff to provide current and historical financial information as requested/needed.
- Provide monthly financial reports to staff.
- Deposit payments on accounts receivable for administrative office and enter information into the accounting system.
- Troubleshoot problems with credit card charges, reconcile operating budget differences, identify and analyze.
- Create/update ad hoc reports as needed or requested.
- Forecast/estimate annual operating revenues, update revenues and expenses in annual cash flow model.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Aptitude in financial analysis and reporting.
- Basic skill level utilizing Microsoft Excel.
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferably in accounting, finance or business disciplines.
General Requirements:
- Must be able to read and write and have good command of the English language.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Physical capabilities – squat, bend and move as necessary for the job.
- Must be able to perform basic mathematics.
- Must have basic proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must possess valid Illinois Driver's License.
- Must possess professional phone skills.
- Must present a neat and professional appearance.
- Responsible to follow policies and procedures outlined in Springfield Park District employee manual.
- Must live within a fifty mile radius of the Bunn Administrative Offices of Springfield Park District or must be willing to move to such a compliant location within the first 6 months of acceptance of a position with the Springfield Park District.
