Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is seeking to hire an Accountant for the Office of Mines and Minerals. This position will: work directly with Comptroller staff to resolve financial obligation and payment problems; plan the use of the Accounting Information System (AIS) for the Office of Mines and Minerals; prepare and update monthly expenditure analysis reports for the Office and supervisory staff;

monitor and reconcile Office attendance and timekeeping records to PAS records. We welcome interested applicants who would like to be part of this team to apply today.

Essential Functions
  • Under general direction, reviews financial accounting records for the Office of Mines and Minerals
  • Independently prepares, examines, and analyzes complex statements and reports for the Programmatic Time Report for the Office of Mines and Minerals
  • Analyzes budget needs and writes Federal grant applications for the simplified grant which consists of administrative emergency administrative and emergency construction costs for a period of one year and construction costs for a period of three years
  • Advises staff of proper procedures and rules of the State Statutes Comptroller's Office and CMS prepares or audits contracts
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, with courses in business administration and accounting or four years of technical accounting experience.
