Job Description and DutiesNote: Effective July 1, 2025, a 2% salary reduction is in place under the Personal Leave Program (PLP), with 3.5 hours of Personal Leave Credit earned monthly in exchange. This program is subject to change based on union agreements and state budget policy.
This position covers Lake, Mendocino, and Humboldt counties.
Under the direction of the Codes and Standards Administrator I (CSA I), and guidance and assistance from a lead District Representative II (DR II), the incumbent is responsible for scheduling and conducting inspections relating to the enforcement of the California Health and Safety Codes and state and federal regulations within an assigned geographical area and writing reports related to inspections.
The attached duty statement indicates the assigned geographical location for this position. Candidates who reside more than 50 miles outside of the assigned geographical area may be interviewed; however, the selected candidate must have a primary residency within 50-miles of the assigned geographic area prior to appointment (and continue to maintain residency) as a condition of employment. Failure to meet this requirement may result in the job offer being rescinded.
Special Requirements- This position is subject to enrollment in the DMV Employer Pull Notice program. The incumbent must maintain a valid California Driver’s License (CDL) as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain a valid CDL and safe driving record may result in termination of employment. This position requires a broad knowledge of Department policies, State housing laws, rules, and regulations.
- Must be able to climb roofs, crawl on hands and knees under homes, climb ladders, bend, stoop, and walk and drive for extended periods of time.
- Must have a verified home address within 50 miles of the assigned area.
Individuals who are currently in the classification, eligible for lateral transfer, eligible for reinstatement, have list or LEAP eligibility, are in the process of obtaining list eligibility, or have SROA and/or Surplus eligibility (please attach your letter, if available). SROA and Surplus candidates are given priority; therefore, individuals with other eligibility may be considered in the event no SROA or Surplus candidates apply.
Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position(s).
