The Environmental Compliance Support Specialist assists the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity in helping Illinois small businesses navigate Clean Air Act requirements and achieve environmental compliance. The role involves responding to regulatory assistance requests, drafting compliance assistance tools, monitoring environmental legislation, and coordinating with regulatory agencies and industry groups. This position is based in Springfield and reports to the Small Business Environmental Assistance Program Manager.
Keyqualifications
- Four years of college coursework in physical, life, environmental or engineering science
- Two years of responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization
- Two years of administrative experience providing technical assistance regarding environmental compliance
- Two years of experience interpreting and applying federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations such as the Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act
- Two years of administrative experience working with regulatory requirements, permitting, licensing, and compliance
