Overview
The Medical Assistant I supports efficient patient flow by maintaining clinical supplies, rooming patients promptly, performing EKGs and point‑of‑care testing, and assisting physicians and nurses to ensure high‑quality care for patients and families.
This position is open to candidates willing to obtain Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), and candidates with active CMA or RMA.
Qualifications- Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 30 days — American Heart Association (AHA)
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Perform routine direct patient‑care tasks to support medical and nursing staff during exams and treatments
- Maintain a clean, safe, and private patient‑care environment, including managing supplies
- Obtain vital signs and collect patient data for provider evaluation
- Conduct waiting-room and exam-room rounding
- Assist providers during medical procedures
- Perform procedures such as EKGs, ear irrigation, vision screening, dressing changes, wound care, suture/staple removal, point‑of‑care testing, and splint application
- Collect, label, and process specimens accurately
- Clean and restock exam rooms consistently
- Serve as a member of the code team
- Apply and document charges for Durable Medical Equipment (DME)
The compensation range for this position is $17.12 per hour - $27.73 per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
