Job Overview
Exercise Physiologist responsible for providing treatment for patients with cardiac, pulmonary, and endocrine diseases through the outpatient rehabilitation program, including patient orientation, assessment, exercise prescription, treatment, and education of cardiopulmonary and metabolic disease patients.
Responsibilities- Develop individualized treatment plans based on initial assessment, including exercise prescription, risk factor reduction, nutritional and psychosocial assessment, and short- and long-term goals.
- Maintain current knowledge of ACSM standards for exercise prescription and testing, serving as a resource to staff and medical personnel.
- Obtain ACLS certification and collaborate with ACLS RN to ensure safe and effective exercise for Phase II and Phase III Rehabilitation patients, including monitoring medical status, prescribing exercise, leading sessions, and mentoring students.
- Organize, implement, and assist with lifestyle management programs, grant initiatives, and departmental conferences.
- Perform initial assessment and orientation for rehabilitation patients, evaluating status, readiness, contraindications, medical history, behavior, risk factors, and necessary laboratory tests.
- Conduct regular stress, cardiolite stress, and stress echo tests without direct supervision of MD, including documentation, ECG monitoring, recognition of life‑threatening arrhythmias, test end‑points, and emergency assistance.
- Prepare patients, obtain history, insert saline locks, and assist RN with pharmacologic stress testing.
- Promote the charitable mission by serving as a community resource to public schools, universities, and civic groups, speaking on exercise, heart disease risk factors, and lifestyle management.
- Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology, Physical Therapy, or related field (required).
- BLS or CPR certification within 90 days of hire.
- ACLS certification preferred.
- Experience in outpatient rehabilitation settings preferred.
Hourly rate ranges from $21.62 to $33.51 based on experience. Part‑time commitment of 30 hours/week.
