Job Summary
Is under the direct supervision of Medical Transport Supervisor. EMT should have knowledge of treatment and stabilization of all patients as well as all definitive techniques within the limitations of their certification as governed by the Georgia Department of Public Health. This position will care for patients in the neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups. Employee performs clinical duties in accordance with the State of Georgia EMT Scope of Practice guidelines and procedures.

High School Diploma or GED - Minimum Experience:
As approved by State of Georgia Department of Public Health includes approved Defensive Driving course and Basic Life Support (BLS)
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of State of Georgia Department of Public Health Protocols and Scope of Practice for licensed EMTs
- Knowledge of all laws pertaining to emergency vehicle operation
- Maintains good physical fitness
- Maintains all certifications required by the State of Georgia Office of EMS
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of all aspects of emergency medicine relative to pre‑hospital and inter‑facility treatment of all sick and injured patients and ensures that care is consistently delivered to every patient.
- Ensures that emergency vehicle is clean and decontaminated at all times and that the vehicle is fueled and fully stocked.
- Maintains all equipment on the ambulance and accounts for it at all times, retrieving any equipment left at the hospital.
- Pursues continuing education offered by NGHS and others for personal accountability for medical licensure.
- Uses sound judgment in resolving problems by following the chain of command and maintains discretion with regard to the public.
- Properly dresses in appropriate uniform attire according to NGHS and Medical Transport policies and procedures.
- Communicates using mobile devices in accordance with departmental rules and procedures.
- Documents patient care accurately and expeditiously within the standards of the State of Georgia and departmental requirements.
