Laboratory Systems Specialist
The Laboratory Systems Specialist performs functions of the Laboratory Information System (LIS), laboratory middleware, laboratory automation, and Atlas Labworks in accordance with regulatory and hospital guidelines. Responsibilities include maintaining systems, training staff, implementing projects, ensuring compliance, and collaborating with other departments.
Key Responsibilities- Assure that all systems and interfaces are functioning and properly maintained.
- Coordinate new clinical projects including implementation, training, and support.
- Provide training to staff in department procedures, quality assurance, and lab applications.
- Develop and edit department policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Ensure compliance with departmental policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Respond timely to customer inquiries and provide problem resolution.
- Maintain clinical competency and collaborate with nursing departments, physicians, and other hospital areas.
- Maintain inventory and order appropriate supplies.
- Maintain laboratory results reporting system and billing functions, and manage dictionaries for laboratory systems.
- Maintain standards for Joint Commission.
- Participate in continuing education programs.
- Prepare incident reports and other reports of unusual occurrences, testing results, or instrument malfunctions.
- Prepare required statistical reports for quality management, hospital committees, and administrative use.
- Provide new client orientation with lab system implementation, training, and support.
- Seek opportunities to improve department performance and productivity.
- Support Outreach information system (Reference Lab application).
- Associate degree (required); preference for ASCP Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or ASCP–Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT).
- Associate’s degree or higher in clinical laboratory science or Information Technology; prefer knowledge of laboratory functions and at least two years’ experience.
- Proficiency with laboratory information systems, middleware, and automation.

Shift: 1st Shift.
Compensation:
Starting at $32.10/hour, up to $49.76/hour based on experience.
