Surgical Technologist

Job Overview

Surgical Technologists are responsible for assisting in nursing care and preparation of surgical patients by performing scrub duties. They provide assistance in emergency procedures as well as elective and scheduled cases, and assist in preparation, transportation, and supervision of patients. They maintain education in surgical operating room and related aspects of patient care.

Education:

HS Diploma, Associate's degree, LPN, CST, and BLS within 90 days of hire
Pay:
Based on experience, starting at $27.68
Sign-on Bonus: $10,000

• Applies principles of disinfection and sterilization.
• Assists with clean up and case turnover.
• Assumes accountability for verification of operative procedure being performed.
• Demonstrates knowledge of basic aseptic techniques.
• Demonstrates knowledge of patient identification.
• Handles, identifies, and delivers all specimens, cultures, implantable devices, and homografts.
• Operates and maintains equipment according to recommended manufacturer instructions and policies and procedures.
• Operates flash sterilizer and Steris sterilizer.
• Participates in the evaluation of the patient care delivery system.
• Scrubs all operative procedures performed.
• Seeks assistance when situation is beyond the ORT/LPN’s knowledge and experience.
• Takes call as scheduled.
• Utilizes surgeon preference card and case cart pick list to competently prepare for operative procedures.

• Associate of Arts (AA) – required
• Associate of Science (AS) – required
• High School diploma – required
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
• BLS or CPR certification within 90 days of hire

Estimated Compensation Range: $27.68 - $42.90 per hour. Pay based on experience.
