Job Duties
  • Operate imaging and cath lab equipment, correct malfunctions and submit reports for repair.
  • Prepare patients for procedures and obtain consent forms.
  • Monitor patient vitals during procedures. Alert the physician of any heart irregularities.
  • Connect monitoring lines, check pulses and set up appropriate equipment.
  • Assist physicians with maintaining a sterile site, as well as with catheter insertion and removal.
  • Dress and/or apply sutures at insertion site following the procedure. Assist in the use of arterial closure devices.
  • Record, interpret and calculate data collected during the procedure.
  • Instruct technologists and others on proper cath lab protocols.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation.
  • Perform other related work as required or requested.
Requirements
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certificate
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Illinois Medical Radiation Technology Accreditation
  • Graduate of approved school of radiology or equivalent training (if hired before September 1990)
  • One year patient care experience required
