Emergency Room Technician, Comer Emergency Department - Part-Time

Be a part of a world‑class academic healthcare system, University of Chicago Medicine, as a Emergency Room Technician in the Comer Emergency Room department. Comer Children’s Hospital is located in Hyde Park, a 172‑bed hospital dedicated to caring for infants, children, teens and young adults. Comer Emergency Department is a 21‑bed, Level 1 Pediatric Academic Trauma Center dedicated to providing high‑quality, evidence‑based care to the children of the South Side of Chicago and beyond.

With 2 trauma bays, 1 special procedures room and a dedicated resuscitation bay, we are equipped to handle the most critical situations. This position is 100% onsite and requires residency in the greater Chicagoland area.

• Transporting patients throughout the hospital as needed
• Keeping supplies and linen at par levels in assigned areas
• Performing and maintaining point‑of‑care testing and EKG, including QC and data transmission
• Assisting RNs with patient care as required, within limits of the law and policy
• Sitting with medically or psychologically compromised patients
• Maintaining a clean work environment by preparing ED rooms for the next patient when necessary
• Performing other duties assigned

• High school graduate or equivalent
• C.N.A. with phlebotomy certification or EKG experience
• M.A. with phlebotomy certification or EKG experience
• EMT‑B or EMT‑P
• Current Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and perform a variety of patient assistance tasks without direct supervision
• Ability to interact effectively with patients, clinical staff, and the general public

• Experience in an ED highly preferred
• ACLS/PALS certification

The pay range is based on a full‑time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis.
