Overview:

We are looking for a Cardiac Ultrasound Echo Technician, or Echocardiography Technician, who specializes in using ultrasound technology to create detailed images of the heart, helping in the diagnosis and treatment of various heart conditions. This role is vital in the field of cardiology, as echocardiograms (echoes) provide real-time images of the heart's structures and function, allowing for accurate assessment of heart health.

Key Responsibilities:

Performing Echocardiograms:
Cardiac Echo Techs are trained to use sophisticated ultrasound equipment to capture images of the heart, its chambers, valves, and blood flow.

Diagnostic Support:
They assist cardiologists in diagnosing heart conditions such as valve disorders, heart failure, congenital defects, and more by providing high-quality imaging.

Patient Interaction:
Echo Techs guide patients through the procedure, ensuring comfort and explaining what to expect during the test.

Stress Echocardiograms:
In some cases, Echo Techs may perform stress echoes, which are taken while a patient is exercising or after they receive medication that simulates exercise.

Data Analysis and Reporting:
After capturing images, Echo Techs often review them to ensure they are of high quality and prepare preliminary reports for the interpreting physician.

Maintaining Equipment:
Ensuring the ultrasound machines and other equipment are functioning properly and performing routine maintenance as needed is a key part of their role.

Description:

.Reviews patient’s chart and results of previous studies. Selects appropriate equipment. Explains test/procedure to the patient to elicit cooperation and allay apprehensions. Interviews the patient and/or caregiver to gather and record pertinent personal and medical information. Assists patient with proper positioning.

2.Moves transducer, by hand, over a specific area of body and observes sound wave display screen to detect pathologies and check for factors such as position, obstruction, change of shape and so forth; determines if images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes. Completes the sonographer report after each exam. Maintains competency for determining the use and delivery of a contrast agent per department policy.

Successfully completes competencies for the position.

3.Captures images in CPACS. Ends exam as reviewed and fixes any QA issues. Understands and utilizes the EPIC workflow for ordering, scheduling, documenting, and charging Department procedures.

4.Discusses test results with physicians or other departmental personnel as needed. Repeats process as necessary.

5.Maintains equipment in a clean and proper working order and replenishes supplies as necessary. Performs minor adjustments to testing equipment and notifies department leadership of serious malfunctions.

6.Performs related clerical duties such as answering telephones, relaying messages, scheduling appointments, maintaining stock of linen and supplies, and distributing test results.

7.Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate books, journals and other literature and attending related seminars, conferences and the like. Attends mandatory department, Medical Center meetings, and other work-related educational programs.
