Sign‑on bonuses up to $30,000.00

Compensation

USD $37.43 per hour – USD $58.02 per hour.

Overview

The Physical Therapist I is responsible and accountable for providing examinations, evaluations, therapy diagnosis, interventions, and prognosis in accordance with established hospital and departmental policies and procedures. The role emphasizes managing daily clinical caseload efficiently, including effective treatment, appropriate documentation, and billing practices. The therapist will also participate in performance improvement and program development activities aligned with departmental goals and objectives.

Education
  • Graduate of an approved school of Physical Therapy.
Licensure / Certification / Registry
  • License in the State of Illinois, or license pending with a valid Authorization to Test letter (ATT) from the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy. The maximum allowable time to practice in a license pending status/under a licensed Physical Therapist is 6 months.
  • CPR Certification preferred.
  • Valid Illinois driver’s license required and must be deemed an acceptable driver per MHS Fleet Safety Policy (5‑year MVR required).
Qualifications
  • Must be physically able to lift, support, and move patients 50–100 lbs.
  • Achieves & maintains 0–10 points on the Clinical Ladder Grid.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, peers, and other team members for assessment, intervention, and professional development.
  • Perform universal precautions (Category I).
  • Perform patient assessments in a specific service area.
  • Assign a physical therapy treatment diagnosis.
  • Establish a plan of care with objective, measurable goals.
  • Provide interventions supported by evidence‑based practice aligned with the plan of care.
  • Assess the effectiveness of treatment and modify treatment to achieve goals.
  • Plan for discharge.
  • Communicate with patients, families, caregivers, and team members to maximize care benefit.
  • Document patient care to meet quality standards and support ethical billing practice.
  • Organize workload and manage time effectively.
  • Maintain positive relationships with patients and referral base.
  • Demonstrate teamwork by routinely offering help to others or assisting as needed.
  • Handle difficult or stressful situations appropriately.
  • Perform other related work as required or requested.
