Overview

Department:
Advocate Christ Medical Center – Pediatrics (Inpatient Acute Therapy). Status:
Part time.

Hours per week: 20 (Monday through Saturday, flexible; Saturday availability required).Pay range: $19.80 – $29.70 per hour.

Education/

Experience:

High School Diploma and 1 year of experience as a Rehab Aide or Rehab Technician, with preference for pediatrics.

Responsibilities
  • Perform daily maintenance routines for rehabilitation departments, including:
    • Sanitation of PT/OT gym areas (mat tables, parallel bars, therapeutic equipment).
    • Notify personnel of equipment malfunction or hydraulic issues.
    • Maintain general clinic tidiness and splint area organization.
    • Disinfect equipment and handle dishwasher loading/unloading.
    • Store, maintain, and refill disinfectants per hospital specifications.
    • Set up and clean therapy rooms for procedures.
    • Deliver and pick up equipment for special disinfecting procedures.
    • Close the site following established procedures.
  • Assist with clerical duties, including:
    • Preparation and maintenance of patient files.
    • Copying forms, reports, and records.
    • Addressing and filling envelopes for mailings.
    • Preparing packages for mailing.
    • Faxes documents per hospital policy.
    • Sorting and distributing mail and reports.
    • Distributing office supplies and therapy materials upon delivery.
    • Accepting, verifying, and putting away delivered supplies.
    • Ordering food for therapy services.
    • Other clerical duties as assigned.
  • Maintain department supplies/materials (inventory, ordering, restocking).
  • Provide basic modality/exercise treatments under therapist supervision, including hot/cold packs and hydra (not electrical stimulation or advanced techniques).
  • Assist with patient preparation: removing and re- applying bandages/dressings and helping patients with dressing/undressing.
  • Transport patients between rehabilitation settings using wheelchairs, carts, or life support equipment.
  • Perform basic gait training and therapeutic exercises under therapist direction.
  • Perform basic patient transfer techniques (stand pivot, slide board, sit to stand, cart transfers) with safety credentials and therapist supervision.
  • Communicate patient needs/problems and notify clinical staff promptly.
  • Use isolation procedures and techniques appropriately, especially in hydrotherapy areas.
  • Participate in hospital facilities activities, in‑services, and educational programs; attend staff meetings and interdepartmental meetings.
  • Performs other clerical and patient care responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
  • Good communication skills.
  • Competency in all Rehab Aide I duties.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Occasional sedentary work with regular heavy work (moving/lifting patients).
  • Can lift up to 100 pounds occasionally and/or more than 50 pounds frequently; up to 20 pounds constantly.
  • Assist, escort, transfer, and respond to patient needs for extended periods.
  • Potential exposure to hazardous materials, life‑threatening diseases, blood‑borne pathogens, and unpredictable situations.
  • Can lift up to 35 pounds without assistance; for lifts over 35 pounds, use patient handling equipment with at least one other associate when available.
  • Will be assessed on a case‑by‑case basis for unique lifting/movement situations.
