Director of Pharmacy Operations

We are seeking an experienced pharmacy leader to oversee and develop a team of specialty pharmacists across on-site and remote operations.
This position combines clinical leadership, team development, regulatory oversight, and operational strategy. You will help create a consistent clinical practice model, strengthen pharmacist performance, and ensure patients receive safe, high-quality support throughout their treatment journeys.
What You’ll DoLead and Develop the Pharmacy Team
- Provide leadership and oversight for specialty pharmacists across on-site and remote operations
- Recruit, onboard, train, coach, and retain highly qualified pharmacists
- Lead performance management, competency assessments, continuing education, and professional development
- Build a strong leadership pipeline and support succession planning
- Create staffing models that meet patient volume and service expectations as the organization grows
- Promote accountability, collaboration, engagement, and clinical excellence
- Develop a standardized clinical practice model for specialty pharmacy services
- Establish consistent workflows, documentation standards, and clinical best practices
- Ensure pharmacists provide high-quality patient education, clinical interventions, and therapy support
- Promote medication safety, error prevention, adverse-event reporting, and continuous improvement
- Monitor performance measures including dispensing accuracy, pharmacist productivity, clinical interventions, and patient satisfaction
- Maintain compliance with state and federal pharmacy regulations, payer requirements, and accreditation standards
- Serve as the pharmacy lead during audits and regulatory reviews
- Oversee corrective action plans and continuous quality-improvement initiatives
Support specialty programs involving REMS, limited distribution drugs, and manufacturer-required services - Identify opportunities to improve clinical consistency, operational performance, and patient care
- Partner with pharmacy fulfillment and therapy operations to align clinical, dispensing, and patient-access workflows
- Collaborate with nurses, providers, care managers, leadership, and external partners
- Help ensure patients experience a coordinated transition from prescription intake through ongoing therapy support
- Contribute to strategic planning and growth initiatives for specialty pharmacy services
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE-accredited institution
- Willingness to obtain additional state pharmacist licenses
- At least 10 years of pharmacy experience, including specialty pharmacy
- Five or more years of pharmacy leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of specialty pharmacy clinical services, patient-care workflows, and regulatory requirements
- Experience leading pharmacists in a specialty pharmacy or ambulatory care environment
- Experience with accredited specialty pharmacy programs
- Familiarity with REMS programs and limited distribution drug requirements
- Experience managing on-site and remote pharmacy employees
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
A master’s degree in business, healthcare administration, or a related field and existing multistate pharmacist licensure are preferred.
