Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Role Overview

Perform nuclear medicine procedures using equipment and Hybrid PET/CT scanners, utilizing independent judgment to ensure accurate imaging and patient care. Responsibilities include conducting advanced imaging such as PET/CT, shunt patency, brain death studies, and therapeutic administrations like 131I ablations, Strontium/Samarium, and Xofigo. Maintain technical proficiency in imaging, infection control, equipment safety, and quality control protocols.

• Registered nuclear medicine technologist with ARRT-N or NMTCB certification; PET technologist certification within 18 months.
• Active license from the Illinois Department of Nuclear Safety; BLS CPR certification.
• Minimum of 2 years nuclear medicine experience, including 1 year as Tech II, plus 700 hours on hybrid PET/CT scanner.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently, guide colleagues, and instruct students.
• Experience with equipment troubleshooting, protocol modification, and safety measures regarding radiopharmaceuticals.
• Capable of performing emergency and routine patient care, including bariatric and ICU imaging, with adherence to infection control practices.
• Participate in continuing education, quality control, and preventative maintenance processes.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including on-call shifts, and assist with other department tasks as needed.
