Patient Care Technician

Role Overview:

A Nuclear Medicine Technologist works closely with radiologists to perform diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine tests, ensuring quality patient care across all age groups.

• Performing tests with radionuclides for diagnosis and therapy.
• Preparing patients, administering radioactive isotopes, and explaining procedures.
• Preparing reagent kits, measuring dosages, and assisting with therapy doses.
• Conducting quality control on equipment and maintaining safety protocols, including radiation safety and blood borne pathogen precautions.
• Setting up and adjusting imaging equipment, understanding CT protocols, and maintaining a clean work environment.
• Adhering to federal and state licensing and record-keeping requirements.

• Graduate of an approved School of Nuclear Medicine Technology.
• Active certification (CNMT, ARRT, or equivalent) and licensure, along with CPR certification.
• Knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, medical terminology, and radiation safety.
• Strong attention to detail, adaptability, effective communication, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently, make sound judgments, solve problems, and maintain confidentiality.

The role requires standing for most of the day, lifting 5-75 pounds, and working with ionizing radiation and potentially hazardous substances. It demands strong visual, manual, and communication skills, along with the ability to work under stress and adapt to changing conditions.
