Ensemble Health Partners is seeking a Public Benefit Specialist to support patients in accessing and understanding healthcare coverage and financial assistance options. In this role, you will verify insurance, screen and enroll patients in Medicaid and other public programs, explain benefits and financial responsibilities, and connect patients with appropriate financial resources. You'll collaborate with revenue cycle, clinical, and patient access teams to reduce denials, improve collections, and enhance the overall patient financial experience in a mission-driven, high-growth environment.

Responsibilities

  • Verify patient insurance coverage and public benefits eligibility at or prior to service.
  • Screen, educate, and assist patients with applications for Medicaid and other public assistance programs.
  • Explain healthcare benefits, coverage limits, and financial responsibilities in clear, patient-friendly language.
  • Coordinate with revenue cycle, patient access, and clinical teams to support accurate registration and billing.
  • Identify patients eligible for hospital financial assistance or charity care programs and guide them through the process.
  • Monitor and follow up on pending applications, approvals, and denials to ensure timely resolution.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant documentation in EHR and revenue cycle systems.
  • Use data and reports to identify trends in coverage issues and recommend process improvements.
  • Protect patient privacy and handle sensitive financial and health information in accordance with regulations.
  • Contribute to a mission-driven, collaborative culture focused on improving patient financial experiences.
