Under the direction of the CEJA Program Director, the Union & Contractor Partnerships Coordinator builds and maintains strategic relationships with building trades unions, unionized contractors and clean energy employers to create direct, structured pathways from HIRE
360’s pre-apprenticeship trainings into registered apprenticeship programs and long-term careers.
This role serves as a key liaison between labor partners, contractors and Climate Works pre-apprenticeship program partners, ensuring participants are prepared for union apprenticeship entry and along with employer workforce needs. The Coordinator is responsible for cultivating trust with labor stakeholders, facilitating apprenticeship referrals, and supporting successful participants transitions into the unionized construction trades across Illinois.
Responsibilities Include:- Build, strengthen and maintain relationships with building trades unions, unionized contractors and subcontractors to expand apprenticeship and employment opportunities for program participants.
- Serve as the primary point of contract for union partners regarding apprenticeships entry requirements, timelines, and participant readiness.
- Facilitate direct referrals of qualified pre-apprenticeship graduates into registered apprenticeship programs and unionized employment opportunities.
- Coordinate closely with contractors, union representatives, and partner organizations to support successful participant placement and retention.
- Communicate apprenticeship standards, and union expectations to internal program staff and training partners.
- Participate and lead presentations to building trades and contractor audiences as appropriate.
- Learn to utilize and navigate databases including Salesforce and the Department of Commerce and Opportunity (DCEO)’S reporting systems.
- Tracking employer outreach, job orders, and placements in Saleforce.
- Collaborate closely with the HIRE
360 management team to oversee and manage the process for achieving successful program completions and participant transitions. - Continuously evaluate transition strategies and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, effectiveness and compliance with DCEO expectations.
- Identify, implement, and communicate process improvements that strengthen employer engagement, labor partnerships, and participant outcomes.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Prior workforce development experience and/or experience in the building/construction trades, apprenticeships, training programs, or working contractors.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills and experience in collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team.
- Knowledge of standard computer programs, including Microsoft Office, and ability to learn and navigate new systems.
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities, proposing new ways of creating efficiencies.
- Flexible and a self-starter; able to multi-task while also being highly detail oriented.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse population.
