Using independent judgment with minimal supervision, the HRBP works closely with senior HR and departmental management to support the College’s strategic mission. The role aligns departmental objectives with management and employees by advising on strategic issues and implementing integrated HR practices, focusing on student‑centered service and continuous improvement. The HRBP acts as an employee champion and change agent, developing better talent management practices and innovative solutions, and providing proactive communication to stakeholders while maintaining confidentiality and discretion.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Partner with assigned departmental leadership to support and advise them on Human Resource matters.
- Investigate and respond to employee relations issues.
- Advocate for and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, supporting affirmative action and equal employment opportunity policies.
- Provide counsel on talent management, conflict and change management, and performance assessment practices.
- Investigate and respond to employee and labor relations issues in a timely manner.
- Prepare and present training on general HR needs (e.g., employee relations, policy interpretation, performance management).
- Analyze trends and metrics with the HR team to develop solutions, programs, and policies that improve efficiency and add value to the HR department.
- Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition Specialist to develop staffing plans, perform full‑life‑cycle recruiting when acting as backup, and serve on interview teams.
- Collaborate with the Professional Development Specialist to assess and recommend training needs.
- Collaborate with the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) team to expand cultural competencies.
- Collaborate with the Benefits Specialist to administer FMLA leave requests.
- Collaborate with the Benefits Specialist and ADA Coordinator to handle accommodations under the ADA.
- Participate on committees supporting staffing, recognition, and professional development.
- Conduct exit interviews and recommend corrective actions for continuous improvement.
- Maintain regular attendance as expected.

Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a closely related field, plus 2–3 years of experience as an HR Generalist, Specialist, Business Partner, or Manager.
- Substantial knowledge of HR procedures and practices (e.g., behavioral interviewing, training, employee relations, diversity, performance management).
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal employment laws (Title VII, FLSA, ADEA, FMLA, ADA, COBRA, etc.) and ability to interpret them.
- Experience supporting diverse populations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and computer skills.
- Master’s Degree and 6–8 years of HR experience.
- Professional certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM‑CP).
- Higher education or public sector background.
- Experience with Ellucian/Colleague software.
- Ability to prioritize workload, manage multiple projects, and work independently.
- Strong collaborative skills with HR, labor representatives, and internal stakeholders.
- Consulting and client‑management experience with advanced communication and conflict‑management skills.
- Analytical and quantitative measurement capabilities.
- Capacity to maintain confidentiality.
