Midwest Refrigerated Services is a full-service 3PL company providing refrigerated logistics services for the food industry. Based in Milwaukee, WI, we operate the largest fresh 48 state LTL consolidation pool with more than 100+ trucks, and offer multiple sites with cooler and air‑conditioned storage, distribution, and cross‑docking services. We operate refrigerated and non‑refrigerated warehouses for storage needs but also Value‑Added Services such as specialty packing, kitting, and fulfillment needs.

HR Manager will provide human resources (HR) support at our Beloit, WI and Belvidere, IL locations, including but not limited to recruiting, onboarding, company policies and procedures, benefits, WC, training, performance management, and leaves of absence. Additionally, this role will work collaboratively with human resources team members to assist in the development and implementation of HR initiatives to achieve department and corporate objectives.

General Accountabilities include:

  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and recommends best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Work with HR Leadership to develop and implement employment related programs and training.
  • Work directly with project hiring managers to understand hiring needs and assist in developing and implementing recruitment strategy. Source, screen, interview and assist managers in the hiring of exempt and nonexempt employees.
  • Field benefit‑related questions from employees. Resolve any issues that arise from new employee or annual open benefit enrollment.
  • Manage the leave administration (FMLA, STD/LTD, WC) process including communication with employees and medical staff, as well as documentation and compliance of regulations in this area.
  • Assists with the recruitment and selection of employees to fill vacant positions.
  • Track and document employment related information and prepare reports for management as requested.
  • Assist in the start‑up of a new project through on‑site recruiting and employee orientation.
  • Support all MRS operations with employee relations matters. Conduct investigation, prepare documentation, and communicate effectively with management and employees. Provide guidance and training to managers and supervisors on how to resolve employee related issues in compliance with the law and company policies and procedures.
  • Prepare dismissal documentation and conduct employee termination.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Skills Required:

  • Strong computer/technology skills including Microsoft Office suite, HRIS, applicant tracking and social media.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HR laws including ADA and EEO.
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality.
  • Professional manner with a commitment to provide exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to build relationships with employees and managers.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

Prerequisites:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field.
