Job Title: Information Systems Specialist I – Service Now

Salary: Range $5,761 to $10,719 – commensurate with experience

Overview: Plans, organizes, and evaluates the activities of managing and maintaining the Service Now platform for the Office of the Secretary of State. Collects requirements, builds user stories, works user stories in a Structures Agile Framework (SAFe), coordinating change and release of new functionality onto the platform. Performs duties across the Service Now platform involving configuration, user management, incident, problem, and change management, maintenance and upgrades, and the maintenance of integrations, data quality, as well as security and compliance with Service Now Platform governance and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Set up and configure Service Now applications and modules according to business requirements (applications, UI policies, business rules, workflows).
  • Resolve incidents related to Service Now functionality and performance, investigating problems, managing changes, ensuring minimal disruption.
  • Manage user accounts: create, update, deactivate, assign roles and permissions.
  • Perform regular maintenance tasks: backups, performance tuning, monitoring; plan and implement upgrades.
  • Configure and maintain integrations with other systems and third‑party applications (REST/SOAP/API).
  • Manage data imports, exports, transformations; develop and manage reports and dashboards.
  • Implement and enforce security and policies to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance.
  • Submit monthly status reports of accomplishments and progress to the Platform Architect.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Education and Experience: Requires knowledge and skill equivalent to completion of two years of college with coursework in computer science or 2.5 years of technical systems and/or programming experience; or any equivalent combination.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of systems design and implementation, programming, operating computers, data transcription.
  • Knowledge of devices for capturing data and remote data transmission.
  • Understanding of computer communication, information retrieval systems, and their limitations.
  • Experience conducting feasibility studies for converting to computer applications.
  • Ability to organize facts, analyze data logically, present results clearly.
  • Proficiency with appropriate methods, tools, applications, and processes.
  • Reasonable and organized work approach.
  • Sound judgment in analyzing and solving problems.
  • Adherence to security, privacy, ethics.
  • Willingness to travel; possession of valid Illinois driver’s license.
  • Ability to perform physical activities up to 50 lbs.
