About Our Role

We are seeking a specialized Data Engineering & Business Intelligence developer to accelerate the scalability, reliability, and strategic value of our data platform. This role is critical to standardizing data pipelines, improving reporting accuracy, and enabling faster, data‑driven decision‑making across the business.

The BI Developer will report directly to the Director of Systems and Business Intelligence
. This role is full‑time and hybrid
, based in our Burr Ridge, Illinois office with additional travel to our satellite locations in Phoenix, Houston and Virginia.

What You Will Do
  • AI Knowledge Base & Application Infrastructure
    • Expand existing vectorized email knowledge base to create a broad context for AI Tools with a variety of applicable inputs (Outlook, Teams, Linked In, SharePoint, Databricks etc.)
    • Enable internal AI tools (custom GPTs, Claude, etc.) to accelerate processes across finance, operations, logistics & marketing
    • Build Databricks Apps to for internal and external facing tools to streamline a variety of business processes. (prepopulated quotes, customer info scraping, shipper tracking number statuses, etc)
    • Establish data governance, access controls, and indexing strategies to support AI‑ready data and retrieval. Streamline permissions processes for tools & users
  • Consolidate fragmented data pipelines into a modular, reusable pipeline framework. Develop and optimize materialized views and job orchestration for performance and maintainability
  • Create discrepancy reporting and audit mechanisms to improve financial accuracy
  • Build reliable CSV ingestion pipelines and standardized ingestion patterns
  • Resolve data model issues (e.g., circular references in customer dimensions) to improve data consistency
  • Business Intelligence & KPI Automation
    • Develop and maintain executive‑level Power BI dashboards
    • Automate leadership KPIs to eliminate manual reporting and improve decision speed
    • Develop a Shipping Optimization dashboard using inventory snapshots and order frequency
    • Establish which types of reporting can be replaced using AI tools with refined context.
  • AI‑Accelerated Development & Best Practices
    • Leverage modern AI tools to accelerate development such as code generation, query optimization, and documentation
    • Implement best practices for AI‑assisted engineering, including prompt engineering, reusable development patterns, and automation of repetitive data and reporting tasks
    • Identify and implement opportunities to embed AI into business processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Around 2 years of proven experience building Power BI dashboards and data models
  • Strong expertise in Databricks (Apps, Jobs, Workflows, Delta Sharing)
  • Working knowledge of LLMs (e.g., Chat GBT, Claude) and their practical applications
  • Advanced SQL and data modeling experience
  • Experience with data pipeline design, ingestion, and orchestration
  • Familiarity with data quality, governance, and performance optimization?
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Hours
  • Full‑time, Permanent, No less than 40 hours per week
