Position: Senior Data Engineer (SQL, Python, Databricks)

What you’ll be doing

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will develop, enhance, and maintain critical software solutions. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to design robust applications, drive technical innovation, and ensure high‑quality delivery that supports strategic business objectives and elevates client experiences.

How you’ll succeed
  • Delivery: Deliver projects with moderate oversight, owning outcomes, scope, and task delegation. Translate goals into clear technical tasks, make decisions within defined parameters, and ensure delivery aligns with departmental objectives and timelines.
  • Technical Excellence: Design and ship secure, scalable solutions across the stack. Drive automation, comprehensive testing, CI/CD, and observability, while reducing technical debt and improving performance and reliability.
  • Industry and Domain Impact: Apply banking product and regulatory knowledge to shape solutions and initiatives. Leverage current industry trends to drive measurable process and product improvements, making data‑driven trade‑offs and recommendations.
  • Risk and Compliance: Participate in project‑level risk assessments, define and execute mitigation plans, and embed security/privacy‑by‑design. Ensure adherence to policies and regulatory requirements, stay current on regulatory changes, and partner with Compliance and Audit for effective oversight.
  • Stakeholder and Team Management: Work across product, design, operations, and partner teams. Communicate status, risks, and decisions clearly; influence cross‑functional outcomes; participate in code reviews and knowledge sharing to raise team standards.
Who you are
  • 5–7 years of related experience or a combination of education and experience, ideally within financial services or tech.
  • Proficiency in data engineering within Azure and Databricks environments, utilizing PySpark and Scala for ETL processes, Azure

    SQL, and REST APIs.
  • Experience with data ingestion, pipeline development, optimization, reporting, and advanced analytics using Azure and Databricks (PySpark/Scala) services, SQL Server/SSIS.
  • Strong SQL Server development experience (required) and SSIS (desired) with strong pipeline delivery skills (ingestion, transformation, optimization, reporting/analytics).
  • Dev Ops/SDLC excellence (CI/CD, environment integrity, security, compliance, release management) and exposure to BI tools such as Tableau, Cognos, or Power

    BI.
  • Automation mindset to reduce manual processes and improve operational efficiency.
  • Agile delivery mastery (Jira/Azure Dev Ops , story writing/pointing, velocity management).
  • Executive‑level communication skills for technical recommendations and governance forums.
  • Degree/Diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, or related field, or relevant certifications and/or completion of a relevant bootcamp.
  • Extensive knowledge of banking products and services and industry regulations, with an ability to influence strategic decisions using industry knowledge.
Location & Working Arrangement

Hybrid arrangement – 2–3 days per week on‑site at the Chicago location, with other days remote.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Expected salary range: $120,000–$135,000 based on experience, qualifications, and location.
  • Eligible for the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, including a discretionary bonus component.
