The Junior Jira Platform Administrator/Developer will support the day-to-day configuration, administration, and continuous improvement of the Jira and Confluence platform. This role focuses on maintaining stable operations, implementing incremental enhancements, building small-scale automations and reusable components, and supporting documentation, testing, and knowledge-transfer activities.
Working under the guidance of senior platform leads and architects, this role is ideal for an early-career professional seeking to deepen hands‑on expertise in Atlassian tools within a governed, enterprise environment. The position requires strong attention to detail, process discipline, and a collaborative mindset aligned with Agile delivery practices.
Key Responsibilities Jira & Confluence Administration- Support configuration and maintenance of Jira Software, Jira Service Management, and Confluence environments.
- Configure and update workflows, custom fields, screens, issue types, notifications, and permission schemes.
- Assist in maintaining standardized configurations aligned with platform governance and reuse guidelines.
- Perform routine administrative tasks, health checks, and configuration updates under established change‑control processes.
- Build and maintain basic Automation for Jira rules, including triggers, conditions, actions, variables, and guardrails.
- Assist in creating reusable components such as workflow templates, field configurations, and automation patterns.
- Support incremental enhancements that improve usability, efficiency, and data quality across teams.
- Follow structured change-management processes, including documentation, peer review, testing, and approvals.
- Develop and execute test cases; support UAT and defect tracking activities.
- Assist with release validation and post-deployment verification to ensure stability and accuracy.
- Maintain clear documentation, including how-to guides, runbooks, configuration logs, and support artifacts.
- Assist with basic integrations using established patterns, including REST APIs, webhooks, and CSV import/export.
- Support data validation and troubleshooting activities related to integrations and bulk updates.
- Use tools such as Postman at a basic level to validate API calls and integration behaviors.
- Apply principles of least privilege and role-based access when supporting user and permission changes.
- Maintain awareness of audit trails, configuration traceability, and compliance requirements.
- Support accessibility considerations, including Section 508 awareness, in configuration and documentation practices.
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, stand‑ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Collaborate with developers, project managers, business analysts, and support teams.
- Communicate clearly on task status, risks, and dependencies; demonstrate openness to feedback and continuous learning.
- Experience:
- 1–3 years of experience in IT or application support roles.
- Minimum 1 year of hands‑on experience with Jira and Confluence as an administrator or advanced/power user.
- Strong working knowledge of workflows, custom fields, screens, permission schemes, and notifications.
- Proficiency in JQL for filters, dashboards, and reporting.
- Foundational experience with Automation for Jira, including rules, variables, and guard conditions.
- Process Discipline:
- Experience supporting change control, testing, UAT, defect tracking, and documentation standards.
- Ability to follow predefined integration patterns using REST APIs, webhooks, and CSV operations.
- Basic familiarity with Postman or similar API testing tools.
- Security & Accessibility:
- Understanding of access controls, auditability, and least‑privilege concepts.
- Awareness of accessibility considerations (e.g., Section 508).
- Soft Skills:
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, Agile team environment.
- Education &
Certifications:- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Atlassian Foundations certification and/or ITIL Foundation.
- Scripting & Technical Exposure:
- Introductory experience with Groovy (e.g., Script Runner).
- Basic JavaScript or Python skills for small utilities or automation support.
- Reporting & Analytics:
- Experience creating dashboards, filters, SLA reports and widgets.
- Basic familiarity with Power BI or eazyBI is a plus.
- Integration Exposure:
- Awareness of integrations involving Power Automate approvals, Microsoft Teams/SharePoint connectors, and Service Now ticket synchronization patterns.
