Position: POWERED SUPPORT SYSTEMS MECHANIC (TITLE 32) with Security Clearance
Duties As a POWERED SUPPORT SYSTEMS MECHANIC (TITLE 32), WG-5378-11, you will serve as a Small Shop Chief (SSC) with the responsibility for the overall shop. The position oversees and directs work of one or more employees who perform work in the Powered Support Systems Mechanic occupation are assigned to the shop. The incumbent performs the full range of non-supervisory work of the shop.

Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list:
* Possess the knowledge and skills found at the journey level as well as those required for planning, accomplishing, and maintaining a functional shop maintenance program.
* Plan and lay out work to be accomplished in the shop, which is then completed by the incumbent and lower graded mechanic(s).
* Estimate manpower, equipment and material requirements.
* Devise and maintain all program plans and records, is skilled in surveillance and troubleshooting techniques, and is able to determine maintenance/repair procedures needed without benefit of technical supervisory guidance.
* Plan, organize and direct shop maintenance programs/procedures under general supervision.
* Determine approaches, methods and courses of action required to accomplish the mission of the shop in an effective and efficient manner.
* Provide recommendations and input to the supervisor concerning personnel actions such as performance appraisals, awards, position descriptions changes, disciplinary actions, leave, etc. Requirements Conditions of employment

* Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
* Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

* PCS expenses may be authorized. Qualifications AREA OF CONSIDERATION:
The areas of consideration for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), will be in the following manner and sequence:
* The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG.
* The SECOND area of consideration will be all current Federal Employees.
* The THIRD area of consideration will be all Federal re-employment eligible.
* The FOURTH area of consideration will be applicants willing to become T32 Dual Status Technicians and gain ILNG membership.
* The FIFTH area of consideration will be U.S. Citizens. Military Grades:
Enlisted - May not exceed the rank of MSgt. GENERAL EXPERIENCE : MUST possess the experience or training which demonstrates the knowledge of mechanical maintenance work; ability to read and use technical manuals, illustrations, diagrams and schematics, and skill in the use of equipment and hand tools used in troubleshooting, testing, and repairing equipment. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : WG-11 Level MUST - possess the experience or training removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing parts, components, and accessories.

Experience which provided working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory applying to powered support equipment and systems; and skill to replace, fit, install, and make adjustments. Experience which provided working knowledge of the makeup and operation of the various individual systems maintained and their interrelationships. Experience reading and interpreting parts lists, manufactures' repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics.
