Minimum Starting Salary:$17.31 per hour / 7.5 hour work day

Summary:
This position is under the supervisory leadership of the Building Service Supervisor or at times Building Services Foreman. Assignments will be assisting with Event & Moving Support Services set-ups, teardowns for various types of events, moving equipment, surplus processing, special projects, recycling, and will perform any-and-all tasks performed by Custodial BSW's as needed/requested by Building Service supervisory staff.
Duties & Responsibilities:

• Complete work orders for all Campus Wide Event managers, for internal and external events. Providing various types of set-ups, tear-outs, cleanups, staging, and various other related tasks.
• Complete Equipment Management work orders for the UIS Campus as requested. To involve keeping surplus storage areas clean and organized. Assist in the out processing of surplus for shipment to UIUC, State of Illinois CMS Surplus, and UIS F&S Surplus storage locations. This may involve palletizing, plastic wrapping, and generation/verification of inventory lists prior to delivery.
• Provide moving and janitorial services for F&S Construction and Remodeling Projects as requested via work orders. May possibly include moving office furnishings into temporary storage, rearranging furnishings, bringing in new or surplus equipment and operating floor cleaning/stripping/polishing equipment after remodeling and construction as requested and general cleanup of debris and vacuuming.
• Assist in campus wide work order requests for various office and storage room equipment and supply moving requests, to and from storage.
• Assist with recycling and garbage removal needs. Empty trash cans and outdoor containers.
• Event and Moving Support BSW’s will perform any-and-all tasks performed by Custodial BSW’s as needed/requested by Building Service Supervisory Staff. Operate automatic scrubbers, carpet cleaners, power sweepers, vacuum cleaners, and hard floor machines. Restrooms-Refill paper products, sanitize toilets and sinks. Wipe down partitions, half walls, surfaces. Clean and service lavatories and toilets.
• Required to report items to supervisor that need repaired. Perform other duties as assigned and/or required.

Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:
Valid Illinois Driver’s license.
Ability to drive a 16’ box truck.
Certification (or ability to become certified) to operate a forklift.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of cleaning solutions and custodial methods.
Ability to comprehend and follow oral instructions.
Ability to read and follow written instructions, directions, labeling and measurements.
Ability to exert muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to bend, stretch, twist, reach, and stand for long periods of time.
Ability to perform general physical activities that require considerable use of hands, arms, legs, and moving whole body, such
as climbing, lifting, walking, stooping, handling, positioning, moving materials, and manipulating items.
Ability to tolerate exposure to temperature extremes.
Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner.
