Are you a natural relationship-builder who loves networking, driving growth, and being out in the field? ABC Illinois is looking for a dynamic Membership Director to lead member recruitment and engagement efforts across the state.
In this high-impact role, you’ll:

Roles and Responsibilities Membership Recruitment and Sales- Responsible for achieving new member growth goals.
- Develop and maintain prospect lists in the association database.
- Conduct prospect meetings, manage the sales pipeline, and manage the prospect database.
- Respond to prospect and current member requests for information and services.
- Drive attendance of members and prospects to ABC Il events and attend industry and chapter networking events to promote membership in ABC Illinois
- Collaborate with the Membership Committee to maintain member service programs, develop prospect lists, and achieve the association strategic goals.
- In collaboration with the Membership Committee, develop and execute membership recruitment and retention campaigns as they align with the association’s strategic plan and annual budget.
- Compile and analyze recruitment and retention statistics and reports.
- Notify the Marketing & Events Coordinator upon recruitment of new member(s) for entry into the New Member integration plan
- Maintain and report member activity and participation in the association database.
- Serve as staff liaison to the Membership Committee and other committees as assigned by the President & CEO
- Retention of current members at a minimum, the rate set forth in the annual strategic plan.
- Travel within the Illinois Chapter’s geographical boundaries to meet with current members.
- Work with the Membership Committee to develop and implement retention strategies.
- Identify member needs and a plan connecting them to appropriate member resources.
- Work in collaboration with the Marketing& Events Department on regional meetings. This includes but is not limited to: suggestions on speakers, outreach to potential speakers, attendance at the event, location determinations, etc.
- Promote attendance at general membership meetings and other regional programs to members and prospective members. Promote use of all chapter and ABC National services including the apprenticeship program, training programs, the STEP program, and insurance programs.
- Stay abreast of industry issues and member news.
- Prepare agendas and notes for the Membership Committee meetings
- Attend all general membership meetings and staff meetings as scheduled.
- Represent the organization at chapter events and deliver presentations as needed.
- Promote the Excellence in Construction (EIC) program and recruit participants and entries.
- Directly responsible for the chapter’s new member onboarding and monthly recruitment events.
- Assist the President & CEO with other duties as assigned.
- Chapter Staff: maintain a professional and working relationship with other department staff members that will help the Association reach all of its objectives smoothly. Communicate member needs and developments to President as needed.
- Advise the Education Department of prospective members that have an interest in ABC Illinois’ apprentice programs.
- Chapter Board and Committees: maintain professional and ethical relationship that will help the board and committee achieve its goals and assist the board and committee to the extent that staff and budgeted resources are available.
- General membership: always respond professionally and quickly to inquires or requests for help from members. Request for services or assistance outside the control of the membership director should be referred to the appropriate person.
- Arrange schedule to assure attendance to all general membership meetings and special events.
- Base Salary Range= $65,000 to $70,000/year

- This position reports directly to the President &CEO.
