The OpportunityA top-tier global law firm is seeking a senior-level Manager, Litigation Support & Court Operations to oversee the daily operations of a high-performing litigation support function within its Chicago office. This leadership role works closely with attorneys, litigation support professionals, court personnel, and administrative leadership to manage court-related operations, procedural guidance, filings, docketing, and team development.
This individual will supervise and develop department personnel while serving as a key resource on federal and state court procedures, litigation calendars, and filing operations across complex matters.
Responsibilities- Oversee daily operations of the litigation court operations/managing clerk function
- Supervise, mentor, train, and develop department personnel
- Provide strategic procedural guidance and docket research support to attorneys and staff
- Maintain current knowledge of federal, state, and local court rules and procedural updates
- Manage litigation calendars and critical deadlines through docketing/calendar systems
- Coordinate complex state and federal court filings, service of process, and document retrieval
- Act as liaison with court personnel and external filing vendors
Support onboarding of new client matters and litigation actions - Review filings and legal documents for procedural and rule compliance
- Generate reports and conduct quality control reviews of litigation calendars and deadlines
- Maintain attorney admissions, e-filing credentials, and related procedural records
- Partner with office leadership on departmental planning, operations, and budgeting
- Monitor workflow distribution, overtime, attendance, and team performance
- Participate in hiring, interviewing, onboarding, and disciplinary processes when needed
- Ensure departmental procedures and workflows remain standardized and efficient
- Assist with special projects and operational initiatives as assigned
- Minimum 5+ years of supervisory experience within a law firm environment
- Strong knowledge of federal and state court rules, filings, and litigation procedures
- Experience with Illinois state courts and Cook County court procedures strongly preferred
- Understanding of both federal and state court operational workflows
- Ability to manage shifting priorities within a fast-paced legal environment
- Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills
- Experience overseeing litigation support, docketing, managing clerk, or court operations functions
- High attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Flexibility to support urgent filings or procedural updates outside standard business hours when needed
