Overview
The Scientific Director / Senior Medical Director, Medical Affairs is responsible for providing medical and scientific expertise for a key Parkinson’s Disease asset within Abb Vie’s Neuroscience portfolio, driving core strategic and operational medical affairs activities.
Key Responsibilities- Set and drive medical affairs strategy, including data generation, dissemination, and the Medical Affairs and Brand Plan.
- Serve as the scientific interface across functions, coordinating scientific and medical activities with internal stakeholders and ensuring cross‑functional perspectives shape clinical development plans and protocols.
- Enable education and scientific communications, supporting the development of marketing materials, medical education programs, advisory committees, and symposia.
- Ensure operational rigor, managing budgets, timelines, and compliance requirements.
- For Senior Medical Directors (MD), provide oversight of medical‑affairs led studies, monitor study integrity, and communicate safety and efficacy data.
- Advanced degree (PhD or PharmD) for Scientific Director; MD, DO, or equivalent for Senior Medical Director.
- 7–10 years (Scientific Director) or 3+ years (Senior Medical Director) of relevant experience in medical affairs, therapeutic strategy, evidence generation, and cross‑functional leadership.
- Strong knowledge of evidence generation strategy, clinical trial methodology, data analysis, regulatory requirements, and protocol design.
- Proven leadership skills in a cross‑functional global team environment.
- Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
- Compensation range is commensurate with experience and may vary by location.
