Essential Functions
Serves as Manager of Adult Education and policy formulating administrator for the Department of Corrections, Office of Adult Education and Vocational Services. Serves as spokesperson on behalf of the Director, Assistant Director and the Chief of Programs and Support Services regarding program issues and has authority to commit the Agency to a specific course of action. Serves as a full-line supervisor.
Monitors and coordinates the development of the Division's General Revenue budget for all programs under the jurisdiction of the Office of Adult Education and Vocational Services. Establishes and directs the Administrative Policies and Procedures for management of the Division staff including disciplinary practices, personnel practices, legislative changes and related activities. Reports to the Director, Assistant Director, and the Chief of Programs and Support Services as to the Office's planning, staffing and related activities.
Controls the appropriate uses of budgeted funds for office programs. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a Master's Degree. Requires Professional Educator License with a General Administrative Endorsement. (Type 75 or General Administrative Endorsement) Requires five (5) years of correctional educational administrative experience
Conditions of Employment
Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check. Requires the ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs, regardless of the position held, is prohibited. Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate. Requires appropriate, valid driver's license. Requires ability to attend seminars, conferences, and trainings to stay current on methods, tools, ideologies, or other industry related topics relevant to the job duties.
Required to utilize digital technology, tools, platforms, and processes in managing and supporting various digital enhancements for greater efficiency, productivity, and digital transformation efforts within the department.
