Position Overview
The Crusher Laborer supports aggregate production operations by assisting in the safe and efficient operation of crushing equipment. This position is responsible for general labor duties at the crusher plant, including maintenance, clean‑up, and material handling, while adhering to all company safety policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)- Performs machinery maintenance and repairs.
- Unplugs and shovels off conveyors and screens.
- Changes out screens, rollers, cone liners, etc.
- Repairs conveyor problems. Greases moving machine parts.
- Performs crusher machinery set up and take down which includes running cables and hoses, setting up blocks, assembling/disassembling machinery, operating skid‑steer to move parts, tarping, shoveling aggregate, etc.
- Keeps crusher machinery area clean of debris and shovels aggregate.
- Operates equipment to include skid‑steer (and loader if trained).
- Moves excess materials from around the crusher machinery.
Education / Experience
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous experience in aggregate, construction, or industrial environments is a plus.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks (lifting, bending, standing for extended periods).
- Basic mechanical aptitude preferred.
- Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write correspondences and memos.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to work well with others in a group or one on one setting.
- Knowledge of inventory and order processing systems; uses job‑specific computer system for ticketing and two‑way radio for communications.
- May be subject to drug testing, and physical agility testing.
- Must have a current and valid driver's license.
