Maintenance Specialist I
Location: St. Charles, IL
Available Shift: 2nd Shift: 3:00pm - 11:00pm, Monday - Friday
Compensation: Pay Range $31.52 - 40.37/hour (based on experience) plus $1.00 shift premium for 2nd shift
OverviewThe Maintenance Specialist I position is responsible for consistently troubleshooting, identifying, and correcting machine‑related problems through proper adjustments to various parts of the machine. Provide innovative solutions for facility problems.
Responsibilities- Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems associated with all manufacturing equipment. Directly responsible for installation and repair of all equipment concerned with plant operations, services, buildings including storage and inventory of spare parts
- Understand schematics, prints, and drawings for the installation and repair of equipment and facility
- Examine equipment to diagnose trouble
- Disassemble, repair, and test facility machinery
- Demonstrate ability to start up plant (generator, air compressor, cooling tower, and chiller), normal plant shutdown, and emergency plant shut down
- Replace faulty switches, sockets and other elements of electrical systems
- Rigging and lifting
- Intermediate machine shop skills
- Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures, including lock‑out/tag‑out
- Perform carpentry, plumbing, painting and other facility related work as necessary depending on assigned projects
- Assist electricians as needed
- Communicate problems encountered through the shift with Plant Engineer/Shift Supervisor
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area
- All maintenance mechanics are expected to be available to work in all areas of forming production
- Perform other duties as assigned
- 5 years related experience
- High degree of mechanical ability and aptitude with proven ability to troubleshoot and perform repairs on electrical and mechanical equipment
- Basic computer skills
- Demonstrated problem‑solving skills
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk
- Uses hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools and controls
- The employee frequently is required to talk and hear to communicate with crew members
- Required to climb, stoop, bend and reach with hands and arms
- The employee is occasionally required to push or pull with hands or arms, kneel or crouch
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to distinguish shades and colors
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and effectively with little to no supervision
- Positive work attitude and willingness to cooperate
- Ability to work in a team environment
- The noise level in the work environment is consistently above 85 decibels
- Able to work with dust from paper converting process
- The employee constantly works near moving mechanical parts and lift trucks
- The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or vapors or hazardous products such as degreasers and silicone sprays
- Ambient temp and humidity may be elevated during the summer months
