About the RoleWe are seeking a mechanically inclined Equipment Builder to join our growing manufacturing team. In this hands-on role, you will assemble custom equipment from start to finish using mechanical drawings, schematics, hand tools, and basic electrical wiring. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys building, troubleshooting, and working with their hands.
Whether your experience comes from automotive repair, racing, dirt bikes, side-by-sides, go-karts, equipment assembly, or a strong mechanical hobby experience, we are willing to train motivated individuals who want to develop their skills and build a long-term career.
What You'll Do- Assemble custom machinery and equipment by following drawings, schematics, and work instructions
- Install mechanical components, sensors, brackets, and hardware using hand and power tools
- Work with sockets, wrenches, tape measures, grinders, and other assembly tools
- Build equipment that may take anywhere from a few days to several weeks to complete
- Mount and connect color-coded sensors that monitor product levels and machine performance
- Perform basic electrical wiring on 120-volt systems under established safety procedures
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings and assembly schematics
- Test completed equipment to ensure proper functionality and quality standards
- Troubleshoot and resolve assembly issues during the build process
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Collaborate with experienced builders and receive hands-on training
- Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in building equipment
- Ability to use common hand tools and power tools safely
- Comfortable reading measurements and using tape measures accurately
- Willingness to learn mechanical assembly, schematics, and basic electrical wiring
- Ability to work in various positions, including bending, kneeling, climbing, and crawling around equipment during assembly
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality craftsmanship
- Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
- Ability to work independently after training
We encourage candidates with hands-on mechanical experience to apply, including:
- Automotive mechanics
- Diesel or equipment mechanics
- Go-kart, dirt bike, motorcycle, or side-by-side enthusiasts
- Racing and motorsports experience
- Manufacturing or machine assembly
- Maintenance technicians
- Fabrication or welding support experience
- Individuals experienced with grinders, cutting tools, and mechanical repairs
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Previous mechanical assembly, manufacturing, maintenance, or automotive experience preferred
- Experience reading blueprints, drawings, or schematics is a plus
- Basic electrical wiring experience is beneficial but not required
- Ability to lift, move, and handle equipment and materials throughout the workday
- Comprehensive hands-on training provided

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Springfield, IL.
Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
