Upholstery Trainee​/Factory Associate

Skyline Furniture is a family owned and operated wholesale furniture manufacturer located just outside of Chicago. For over 80 years, we have handcrafted quality upholstered furniture for customers across the country.

We are looking for motivated individuals who want to learn the skilled trade of furniture upholstery. No upholstery experience is required. We provide hands on training from experienced craftsmen and will teach you the techniques needed to build high-quality upholstered furniture. • Learn the upholstery process by working alongside upholsterers and Line Foremen.
• Assemble softwood furniture frames using precut wood components and pneumatic fastening tools.
• Inspect assembled wood frames and identify any defects before production.
• Learn how to prepare wood frames using materials such as webbing, foam, and polyester fiber.
• Safely operate pneumatic staple guns and other upholstery tools.
• Learn how to upholster furniture by applying precut and sewn fabric to prepared frames.
• Inspect completed furniture to ensure it meets Skyline's quality standards.
• Continuously develop upholstery techniques to improve craftsmanship, quality, and efficiency.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Support Line Foremen and contribute to special projects and continuous process improvement initiatives.

• No previous upholstery experience required. We will train the right candidate.
• Ability to lift 40 lbs, bend, twist, and stand for long periods. Employment is contingent upon passing a post-offer, pre-employment physical exam.
• Strong work ethic with a willingness to learn a skilled trade.
• Reliable, dependable, and able to work well in a team environment.
• Positive attitude and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Furniture manufacturing or upholstery experience is a plus but not required.
• English communication skills are helpful but not required.
