Illinois Justice Corps places volunteers in courthouses to help people without lawyers navigate the civil justice system. Illinois Justice Corps is an Ameri Corps program.

Ameri Corps is the federal agency for national service and volunteerism. Ameri Corps providesopportunities to turn your determination,compassion, and creativity into practical solutions for neighbors and strangers, alike. Ameri Corpsservice also builds your professional experience and creates pathways to jobs for your future.

Fellows work with courthouse staff to provide a variety of services to people who can’t afford an attorney, or simply need a better understanding of the court system and its procedures. Justice Corps volunteers do not give legal advice, instead they empower people with the tools they need to represent themselves. Fellows also:
Lead a team of volunteers, create Ameri Corps projects and events, collect data for quarterly reports, watch court, observe judges and attorneys, and build friendships with other service-minded people.

Commit to serve 1700 hours by 8/14/25, bachelors degree preferred, desire to serve community

Customer service, problem-solving, computer literacy, social perceptiveness, active listenting, service orientation

$25,000 Ameri Corps stipend, healthcare, childcare stipend, Segal Education Award, $7,300 in financial incentives for completing hour requirements.
