Job Overview
Embrace Life Inc. is seeking an experienced educator to serve as Head Start Family Services Coordinator. This role collaborates with the Regional Manager to support and build relationships with children, families, and the community in line with Head Start program goals.

Compensation: $17.00 – $19.00 per hour
- Organize and conduct meetings and training sessions for staff and parents, facilitating individualized short‑ and long‑term goals for each child.
- Conduct at least one evening home visit per month for each enrolled family, in addition to visits required by Head Start guidelines.
- Organize and participate in delegate inter‑agency meetings.
- Participate in community boards, councils, advisory groups, etc., representing Embrace Life’s Head Start program and actively recruiting parents as volunteers.
- Organize and facilitate all Parent Committee and Policy Committee meetings per federal and IMSHSP guidelines, and provide training to parent representatives.
- Attend state‑wide pre‑service training; participate in delegate pre‑service training and maintain ongoing efforts for professional development.
- Maintain organized records of Family Engagement activities, including family files.
- Identify local resources that provide services to migrant and seasonal families, develop and maintain relationships with them; update the Community Resources Director.
- Serve as an advocate for migrant and seasonal Head Start families and promote their ability to advocate for themselves; ensure delivery of social services, emergency and non‑emergency services when required.
- Submit accurate, prompt reports as requested by center director or grantee staff.
- Prior experience within the Head Start program is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with child development or early childhood education and experience working directly with the youngest children.
- Working knowledge and understanding of social welfare programs, immigration laws, community resources, and social services programs.
- High organization, communication, and time‑management skills and ability to juggle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong written communication skills.
- Reliable transportation with valid insurance and driver’s license.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends to meet Head Start requirements for home visits.
- Ability to work successfully and compassionately with culturally diverse staff and clients.
- High School diploma or GED.
- National Head Start Association Family Services Coordinator certification required.
- AA or BS degree in social work preferred.
- Fluent in written and spoken Spanish and English required.
- Proof of a physical examination within the last six months, including a tuberculosis test, and compliance with other background checks required by DCFS licensing.
- Personal qualifications: emotional maturity, willingness to cooperate with program aims, respect for children and adults, flexibility, patience, good personal hygiene, and physical and mental health not interfering with responsibilities.
