Field Director, Chicago School Board Election Role Details- Reports To: Relevant OSA Area Director
- Position Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
- Location: Chicago, IL

The Field Director is responsible for executing voter contact strategy within an assigned school board district(s). Working under the direction of the relevant Area Director, the Field Director owns all aspects of ground-level field operations, including managing turf, hitting voter , coordinating volunteers and paid canvassers, and maintaining data integrity in the voter file. This is a paid, full-time position ideal for an experienced organizer ready to lead field programs.
PositionResponsibilities
- Execute voter contact programs (canvassing, phone banking, text banking) within an assigned district.
- Manage and optimize turf assignments to maximize voter contact efficiency.
- Develop and track voter in coordination with the Area Director.
- Recruit, train, and manage a team of volunteers and precinct captains.
- Maintain rigorous data hygiene in VAN or other voter file systems.
- Provide regular reporting on voter contact metrics, volunteer recruitment, and field activities.
- Coordinate with Volunteer Coordinators to ensure event logistics and volunteer support are in place.
- Identify and elevate issues or barriers to voter contact in a timely manner.
- Support candidate events, community forums, and local outreach activities as needed.
- Participate in team meetings, trainings, and coalition check-ins.
Skills and Abilities
- Minimum of two campaign cycles of experience in electoral field organizing or community organizing.
- Experience managing and motivating volunteers in a campaign or organizing environment.
- Proficiency with NGP VAN or similar voter contact platforms.
- Strong data management skills and commitment to data hygiene.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends during peak campaign periods.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining accountability to team goals.
Skills and Abilities
- Prior experience on a school board or education-focused campaign.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish or another language spoken in the district.
- Familiarity with Chicago neighborhoods and political landscape.
- Experience with relational organizing programs.

Salary Range$4,000–$6,000/month, commensurate with experience
