Non-Profit / Outreach, Volunteer / Humanitarian, Youth Development
The Immigration Project’s VISTA Digital Outreach initiative aims to increase access to immigration legal services for low-income immigrant communities in Central and Southern Illinois by strengthening the organization’s outreach and communications capacity. Through this program, the VISTA Digital Coordinator will develop and implement sustainable communication strategies that expand awareness of available legal services. These strategies include increasing social media engagement, creating accessible community outreach materials, and supporting digital information campaigns that help immigrant communities better understand their rights and available resources.
The VISTA member’s work focuses on building long-term outreach systems and tools that allow The Immigration Project to reach more individuals and families who may face barriers to accessing legal support. By strengthening communication infrastructure and increasing the visibility of immigration legal resources, the program will help connect underserved immigrant communities with critical legal assistance and information. Ameri Corps VISTA members serve to build the capacity of nonprofit organizations so they can more effectively serve low-income populations and create sustainable solutions that address poverty.
Through expanded outreach and improved access to legal information, this project helps reduce information barriers that often prevent immigrants from seeking legal assistance. By increasing access to immigration legal services, the program helps stabilize immigration status, protect employment opportunities, and strengthen economic security for immigrant families, breaking the cycle of poverty by ensuring low-income immigrants can access the legal support and information necessary to achieve long-term stability and opportunity.
