Gambling Outreach Worker - Springfield

• Providing problem gambling education, screenings and referrals throughout the community served (Sangamon County) including but not limited to activations arranged as part of the Illinois sponsored “areyou really winning” campaign.
• Providing “brief intervention” to individuals identified to have concerns regarding gambling whether the individual accepts a treatment referral or not.
• Providing problem gambling education, screening, brief intervention and referral to Family Guidance Centers’ patients as appropriate.
• Distributing gambling education materials to organizations in the community, for example, behavioral health organizations, social service organizations, establishments that have gambling such as video gaming terminals etc.
• Supporting patients accessing care on FGC’s mobile harm reduction unit including conducting initial screening/brief intervention,arranging transportation, and ensuring ongoing engagement in treatment at a community-based provider.

Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday (8:00a - 4:30p); with flexibility to support program needs

July 1st, 2026

Pay Rate: $20.00 per hour

Education and/or

Experience:

A high school diploma or equivalent, lived experience with substance use and/or problem gambling and stable recovery, and familiarity with federal and state confidentiality laws are required. Knowledge of gambling related treatment and support resources, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), drug-free recovery programs, and hospital-based medical detox admission and discharge processes, as well as certification as a CRSS, are preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and current vehicle insurance.
