Housing Counseling VISTA – 2026 Housing Authority County Jackson

September 2026 – September 2027. Compensation: $500 monthly housing & transportation stipend. The Housing Counseling VISTA will serve with the Housing Authority of the County of Jackson, Illinois and help establish a HUD‑approved housing counseling agency to provide pre‑purchase counseling, rental assistance education, and financial literacy resources to residents in southern Illinois.

The VISTA will develop relationships with local organizations, conduct a community needs assessment, and create an implementation plan that aligns with HUD certification requirements. They will coordinate the development of program infrastructure, create outreach strategies, and establish compliance frameworks. In addition, the VISTA will prepare a program manual, develop an evaluation framework, train staff, and pass the HUD housing counseling certification exam.

The candidate should have knowledge of real estate development, housing counseling, home ownership, and financial literacy, and be passionate about community resources. Experience with grant writing, teaching, and curriculum development is a plus.
