American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN for a Level I trauma center position in Illinois, requiring at least three years of OR and trauma experience.
Responsibilities- Work in the Operating Room of an acute care, Magnet-designated Level I trauma hospital
- Assignment involves all service lines except cardiovascular (CV) surgery
- 23 operating rooms with diverse surgical case types including bariatrics, general surgery, neurology, orthopedics, plastics, transplant, urology, and trauma
- Patient populations include bariatric, emergency/trauma, neuro, ortho, plastics, general surgery, transplant, and urology
- Day shift:
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM (3x12s, weekends required) - On-call required approximately once per week
- Rare floating within skill set may be required to meet facility needs
- Uses Cerner EMR; experience preferred
- Scrubs are provided for this role
- Responsibilities include preparing and circulating during complex surgical procedures and emergency cases
- Work as part of an interdisciplinary surgical team in a high acuity, fast-paced environment
- Parking permit provided at no cost; form completed during orientation
- All requested time off must be reviewed and approved by the manager
- Orientation and training provided at the start of the assignment
- Active IL RN license in hand or in process
- Minimum 3 years of OR nursing experience required
- Required certifications: BLS; CNOR and CST preferred
- Level I trauma OR experience required
- General OR and trauma experience required
- Documented experience in bariatric, general, neuro, ortho, plastics, transplant, trauma, and urology surgical cases as listed
- Must have experience with electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, and Hana tables
- Experience in code response, infection control, radiation safety, specimen handling, time out protocols, and urinary catheterization required
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to apply
- First-time travelers are not accepted
