The Registered Nurse in Oncology is responsible for providing skilled nursing care to patients, with a focus on chemotherapy administration, monitoring, and related skills. The role involves working 4x12 or 3x12 day shifts, including every other weekend, within a Level I trauma center. The RN will float as needed within their scope of practice to meet facility needs.

Responsibilities:
- Administer chemotherapy treatments.
- Manage body fluid handling post-chemotherapy.
- Handle continuous infusions and IV push administration of chemotherapy.
- Manage and dispose of cytotoxic spills.
- Monitor patients undergoing chemotherapy and recognize/communicate abnormal lab values.
- Access ports and administer coagulation factors, antifungals, and antivirals.
- Administer blood and blood products.
- Provide care and management of ports and central/PICC lines.
- Perform central line blood draws.
- Start IVs.
- Float within scope to meet facility needs.
Required Skills &
Certifications:
- Minimum 1 year of experience.
- Active Registered Nurse license in the state of Illinois (in hand or in application process).
- Chemotherapy certification.
- Required Chemotherapy Skills/
Experience:
Administration of chemotherapy, Body fluid handling post Chemotherapy, Continuous Infusion of chemotherapy, IV push administration of chemotherapy, Management/disposal cytotoxic spills, Monitor chemotherapy, Oral Administration of chemotherapy, Recognize/ communicate abnormal lab values.
- Required IV Therapy/Infusion Skills/
Experience:
Accessing Ports, Administration of coagulation factors, Antifungals, Antivirals, Blood/Blood product administration, Care and management of ports, Central line blood draw, Central Line/Implanted Line Care, PICC line care, Starting IVs.
Preferred Skills &
Certifications:
- None specified.
Special Considerations:
- Will work every other weekend.
- Must have an active IL license in hand or be in the application process to apply.
- Client may call-off up to 36 hours per thirteen-week assignment without pay.
- The facility is a Level I trauma center and a Magnet hospital.
Scheduling:
- 4x12 or 3x12 day shifts ).
- Able to accommodate 3x12s if a candidate requests.
- Every other weekend is required.
- Open to discussing block schedules with the manager.
