Registered Nurse

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in Oncology is responsible for providing skilled nursing care to patients, with a focus on chemotherapy administration and related treatments. This role involves monitoring patients, managing cytotoxic spills, and recognizing/communicating abnormal lab values. The position requires working every other weekend and floating within scope to meet facility needs.

Responsibilities:

- Administer chemotherapy via various methods (IV push, continuous infusion, oral).
- Manage and dispose of cytotoxic spills.
- Monitor patients undergoing chemotherapy for adverse reactions and side effects.
- Recognize and communicate abnormal lab values.
- Access ports and administer coagulation factors, antifungals, and antivirals.
- Administer blood and blood products.
- Provide care and management of ports, central lines, and PICC lines.
- Perform central line blood draws and start IVs.
- Float within scope to meet facility needs.

Required Skills &

Certifications:

- Active Registered Nurse license in the state of Illinois (in hand or in application process).
- Minimum 1 year of experience.
- Chemotherapy certification.
- Demonstrated skills in administration of chemotherapy, body fluid handling post-chemotherapy, and continuous infusion of chemotherapy.
- Experience in IV therapy/infusion skills, including accessing ports, administering blood products, and central line care.

Special Considerations:

- Will work every other weekend.
- Will float as needed.
- Open to accommodating block schedules; discuss requests with manager.
- Limited RTO (ideally no more than 5 days).
- The client may call off up to 36 hours per thirteen-week assignment without pay.

- 4x12 or 3x12 Day shifts ).
- Able to accommodate 3x12s if a candidate.
- Schedule requests can be discussed with the manager.
