Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the Director of Nursing in organizing and directing day‑to‑day functions of licensed and unlicensed nursing staff.
- Admit, discharge, and transfer patients as requested.
- Perform documentation and billing supplies usage.
- Sends patients to the hospital as necessary.
- Knowledge of procedures if unable to reach physician.
- Develop work assignments for unlicensed staff.
- Make compliance rounds and report pertinent issues.
- Maintain effective lines of communication with attending physicians.
- Coordinate care planning/MDS process and committee meetings as needed.
- Participate in patient screening and selection process as requested.
- Monitor physician services (documentation and visits) in accordance with regulations.
- Follow up on consultant recommendations (pharmacy, dietary, etc.).
- Provide demonstration and education for licensed and unlicensed staff to perform job duties.
- Complete documentation procedures on patients using appropriate forms, timelines and Medicare documentation.
- Communicate with physicians, arrange transportation for doctor appointments, and contact families.
- Demonstrate effective supervisory skills with fair and uniformly applied corrective actions.
- Provide reports and documentation to support departmental updates and corrective actions.
- Assist in interviewing, screening and selection of associates within staffing budgets.
- Maintain personnel file documentation including reference checks, screenings, evaluations, verification, and other required documentation.
- Review and respond to complaints/grievances from associates, patients, or families regarding the department.
- Maintain inter‑departmental communication to foster positive working relationships.
- Monitor licensed and unlicensed staff for compliance with procedural guidelines and protocols.
- Maintain a working knowledge of current licensure standards and the survey process.
- Monitor work of other nursing staff in the unit for thoroughness.
- Make rounds to provide proper care and cleanliness of patients.
- Coordinate the care of patients and assist nursing staff members according to needs.
- Implement Education Program, Infection Control Program and/or Quality Assurance Program.
- Promote the image and reputation of the System by exhibiting servant leadership and direct, open lines of communication.
- Contribute to committees, work groups, project management, and other collaborative efforts of the System.
- Perform other duties as necessary to ensure the success of the System.
- Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills.
- Effective and professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Communicates well with colleagues, patients, family members, and visitors, providing a warm and friendly greeting and an approachable attitude.
- Responds to expressed concerns with a helpful, caring demeanor and professional manner.
- A Nursing degree from an accredited college or university, or graduation from an approved RN program.
- Active RN license to practice in the State of Georgia.
- Provides oversight and direction for unlicensed nursing personnel.
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Write routine reports and correspondence.
- Speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram format.
- Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

- RN nursing degree from an accredited college or university.
